Around three quarters of UK fire doors are reportedly fitted or maintained incorrectly. A fire door only does its job — holding back smoke and flame for a rated period — if every part of it is correct, not just the door leaf itself.

check points.
The gap around the door, including under the bottom edge, needs to sit within a tight tolerance so smoke and flame can't pass through.
Intumescent and smoke seals need to be continuous and undamaged — a missing or painted-over seal is one of the most visible signs of a non-compliant door.
Fire-rated doors need fire-rated hinges, correctly fitted, in good condition and free of excessive wear.
"Fire door keep shut" (or "keep locked", where relevant) signage needs to be present and the door's self-closing mechanism needs to work properly.

Where it is safe and compliant to do so, we prioritise repair over replacement. Compliant doors are issued with certification on the same day.
Inspections are £30 + VAT per door. Fee deducted from invoice when you book remedial or replacement work within 60 days.
